Sports Activities: The Path to Social Inclusion

Sports Activities: The Path to Social Inclusion,

FEEL THE ENERGY OF THE SOCIAL INCLUSION (Marya’s diary)

MY IMPRESSION:

I participated in this training course with great interest, not particular expectations, but open for learning and practicing new exciting activities. I haven’t any specific knowledge in the field of education through sport, social inclusion through sport activities or projects related to sport and physical activity before starting to work in BG Be Active Association. Since I am new in the team so I decided that this training will be such useful opportunity to improve my theory and practice on the field. It was really an amazing and enriching experience for me – I have become more confident and aware of the most important topics and approaches related to social inclusion through sport activities. I like working with young people, their motivation, energy and smiles. But not all young people have the same opportunities in life or in school, or in the place where they are living, so I have been always very open and willing to help the marginalized ones in our societies. Every child, young person should have equal rights and access to education, sport and choice for personal development. I think that sport is really the universal language for social inclusion and for integration. There are a lot of great practices and methods in this area and we have to keep improving ourselves if we want to achieve something meaningful.

WHAT I HAVE APPRECIATED IN THE TRAINING:

  • The balance between practical and theoretical activities
  • The opportunity for intercultural communication and exchanging experience with people with different social background
  • The friendly attitude and professional support from the trainers during the whole training
  • The possibility to create and practice our own activities, approaches that can be implemented in real life as instrument for social inclusion
  • The work in such great atmosphere with extraordinary team

WHAT I HAVE LEARN SO FAR:

  • I learned many practical methods, games, approaches for social inclusion through sport activities
  • I definitely increased my awareness in the field of Education Through Sport, I become more confident in developing instruments/activities for social inclusion and implement them in my country
  • I learned the basis of creating short term projects related to topics such as healthy lifestyle, education through sport, physical activity and youth exchanges
  • I have now wider conception and vision of how sport and physical activities can be delivered in inclusive way to help with the problem of social inclusion and solidarity
  • I collected very useful experience from the other participants about how in their countries are trying to resolve the problem with the social inclusion in different marginalized groups in the society

MY EXPERIENCE IN THE REFUGEE CENTER:

Definitely it was the most thrilling and in the same time confusing emotionally experience for me during the whole training course. Of course these people need to feel the support and care the most but I think inclusion for them need to happen with more professional help. It is great form them to have contact and opportunity to communicate with outside people, to interact with them and to not feel so isolated, but their way of life has just been a little more misfortune and that is why they need more specific help. They need for sure to become more educated and to be integrated in the country they are currently living in every possible way. With a little attention from ourselves that cannot happen, it requires joint efforts and maximum energy and dedication.
